L’Institut PAULO COELHO, dirigée par sa femme Cristina Oiticica, est une institution à but non lucratif financée exclusivement par les royalties de l’auteur. L’idée principale n’est pas d’être une fondation de charité, mais de donner une opportunité aux défavorisés et aux exclus de la société brésilienne.

Aujourd’hui, l’Institut PAULO COELHO aide financièrement des personnes âgées en situation précaire et co-parraine le projet de Crèche-Ecole Meninos da Luz prévue pour 270 enfants, à Lar Paulo de Tarso, dans la favela Pav o-Pav de Rio de Janeiro.
